The Designer
Jademan Baker is a fashion entrepreneur living and working in Brooklyn, NY. She became very interested in fashion in high school when she visited the Alexander McQueen fashion exhibition during a class field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She was completely captivated by his imagination and unique designs and at that moment she knew she wanted to become a fashion designer.
Jademan graduated from Tyler School of Art + Architecture at Temple University with her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking in 2016. At Temple, she began to combine fine art, textile design, and fashion. She screen printed on fabrics, learned different fiber processes, and decided to turn her fabric works into clothing. After graduating, she enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts in Fashion Design program at Savannah College of Art and Design. While there, Jademan honed her skills and established her signature design aesthetic – feminine, edgy styles that celebrate print, textures, and art.
Post-graduation, Jademan worked as a corporate fashion designer at Kohl’s Inc. for the brand Simply Vera Vera Wang. In 2020, she lost her job due to covid-related layoffs and is currently a full-time freelancer and entrepreneur. Her mission has always been to live a life full of creativity and she hopes to inspire people around the world to find freedom in purpose.
